Green things in the USA

That was a really big tree at the top. I guess these are grass daisies... these things grow in Canada...I only know that because the day we got married.. they were all over the place on the grounds (which just happens to be 17 years ago today). I am not sure what the bottom trees are.. but I don't see them around where we live... but they could be other places... and I am just not looking...

Spot the theme....

Now you might think that it could be boats as the theme... but it is not... it is taking pictures from the car window, as we NEVER stop on our driving adventures... EVER!!!! Mind you... the first photo The King was rather concerned for all the bad fishing habits he witnessed... like fishing in close proximetry... I think the bottom photo was a whale watching boat heading to somewhere...

From one pile to another....

So I was folding cranes. I love the way I work. I partly folded the cranes into one pile... the first four folds, and then the creation of the square. The paper sat in a pile, from there I folded them into the next stage... and then after that once the actual crane was created I tossed them over my shoulder into a crane pile. I like the way I work... I just move from one pile to the next.. similar to what I do in life... I eventually pulled out a crane, .... just so one could make heads and tails of what is was I was doing.

What else do I have to say....?

I should have made a Friday list... I have a million things to do... as do the rest of the people on this planet.

So far THIS YEAR I have noticed that the people that chronically call for household items & clothing have stopped. This greatly saddens me as I have little bags stashed all over my house with household items & clothes waiting for a new home. I am just about to take them to a new home myself if these people do not call soon. I wonder where they are.... they ALWAYS call??

OH... speaking of the boy... a couple of posts ago....

I helped him with his homework last night. We spent a couple of hours doing his homework... it was MATH. At first this kid woulnd't even pick up a pencil and touch the paper. I did it & made him tell me what to do. I was painful. I think the first 10 questions went along like this. I eventually handed the pencil over to him, where he started writing out his questions. This was a brave move. THEN... the questions changed, and that was it... he wouldn't do it. I am not certain if he wouldn't do it... or just couldn't.. which seems like a wierd assessment. I CAN SEE where he gets himself into trouble. HE THINKS TOO MUCH.... which makes him FREAKYFRIDGEMAGNETS very slow. So slow that forgets where he was at with the question. This is algebra now, and there are 'THE STEPS' to perform. (Which is work, which he can't handle, which is wierd). He's wierd. I am not sure where his electrical currents take him when he thinks about math, but it certainly the long road home... because he doesn't have it in the firecracker department in thinking skills with this stuff. GAWD. Anyways... we worked at it, and worked at it.... eventually he put the pencil to paper again, after the shift in questions, and even WISHED to complete the questions on his ABSOLUTE lonesome after a while. I was not allowed to move away from my seat while he tried this task mind you. We must have done 30 questions. By about the 27th question he was feeling like he understood it. I think we needed to do another 30 for him to feel comfortable. I turned the page over, as there were more questions... and the wording for the questions had changed again slightly. OH GAWD... I couldn't do anymore with him...

I find out this morning that the math homework wasn't due until Monday. Just my luck!

Walkingwalkingwalkingwalking

It's a good thing that I bought that Mazda 5 last year. For two reasons really:

Mazda didn't know they were going to get their very own VOLUNTEER salesperson. Somehow the volunteer part came naturally to me. ( I have many people roll up beside me and put their window down and want to know what I think about it....((OK in all honesty would people start talking trash about the vehicle they drove.. if it was that bad... I wouldn't be driving it...))

The second reason: Now I can drive people around my little world to take them on the walking adventures with me. My latest thing this last couple of weeks has been to walk around the Town Centre Stadium for an hour as fast as I can. Well actually there is this Korean (looking) fellow and he BOMBS around that track... I like to try and keep up with him... that is a challenge. That man can walk. Sometimes he comes up behind me, and he is running... damn him... we don't want any Deanna's running around Town Centre Stadium....we just don't want that... in the meantime I have invited another couple of walk with me. Well, I don't want them to walk with me, I am just going to drive them to the same location, where they can walk at their own pace around the track. It seems boring... but you know... it's a workout. It is not different than people that jump on treadmills, elipticals or other machinery type things. At least the track is outdoors, and you can't get lost walking on it.

The Wave...

I waved someone through in a coffee line up the other morning. The lady had rightly turned into the cramped parking lot, and I drove through the other way in an effort not to sit on the street to wait my turn in the parking lot, when it became (maybe could have been) my turn to turn... I waved her to turn... in turn... I had my coffee bought by the time I drove up to the window. The person in front of me had bought my coffee, and said it something to do with "the wave". Well isn't that the nicest thing going?

Talk about good karma people... now I have to pass it on in my travels....which I will.

In other things that happen....

I folded 120 cranes the other day for a crane project. That was all good.

I finally talked to the boys teacher. It has been a game of tag. I like this new teacher of his, she gets him. I do not remember a time when I went to school that my parents talked to a grade 7 teacher.... I just don't remember that... I am not even sure they did that WAY BACK THEN. We have made some changes at home for him, and a few small changes for him at school. ONE piece of information e shared came as a surprise to her & something as a surprise to me. AS we were talking about his work habits... she commented that he doesn't try in math. Wont do it, wont try, the second she walks away, he stops working. I suggested the fact that he is completely STUNTED by numbers. He doesn't get, doesn't understand them, and the biggest thing... they are too much work, so therefore under THE BOYS THEORY ON LIFE, and his WORK habits.... he just doesn't do math. She was shocked, she said that she just thought it was laziness, not actual inability. Starting Monday he will go to the resource teachers room for math. To my surprise as we were chatting away... this teacher also commented that he's one of the brightest kids she has, but the real beauty about him was his ability to get an A, but also has the ability to receive an "N" (for needs improvement") in his work habits. She said that that takes talent! She informed me that most of his teachers had the same thing to say the same about him. Smart, but doesn't work. I think that can be said for many kids out there. Complicated, and yet not. The only teacher that didn't have any problem with his work habits was his drama teacher/art teacher. She loved him. Gee, what a shock. Hopefully the couple of small tweaks that we have done in the boys life will encourage/enable him to work a bit harder. JUST a bit!

OOOOoooohhhhh!

  1. Well, the micro SD still doesn't work.
  2. The extender cable for the USB port that I bought doesn't connect to my camera.
  3. It connects to the MP3, but doesn't do anything beyond that.
  4. I will be disconnecting the computer and dragging it all back in.
  5. Something seems fishy about the whole thing.
  6. The girl remains a princess, and will not a be a Mayqueen for this year.
  7. We witnessed the ultimate in bad entertainment at the tea ceremony.
  8. No really.. it was very very very very bad.
  9. Perhaps the person that hired "the guy" for the entertainment should be fired - STAT.
  10. I learn how to make a link yesterday.... I might link lots of things now... just because I can.

oddities to stare at...

Posted by Picasa

why write a blog?

When I can just sit and stare at my header and sigh at how beautiful it is.

I mean really... it is!

It's extraordinary beautiful.

I may not live in an area where I can see sunrises and sunsets over open bodies of water... but you know...I just love the trees, and all the things that happen when sunlight dances upon them... (and in some cases in them).

Happy Monday to those Mondayish Warblers.

Springbreak homework.

A couple of weeks ago we had SPRING BREAK. (please refer to the non-important space filling complaints about the weather)....

On the day that THE PIP came home from school she claimed to have some homework to do... and she had it deeply hidden in her ARCHIE comic box. Well, being the queen of memory related problems... guess what... I forgot...

WELL...

Kind of forgot...

That was not before I told her that she did not have to do a project over springbreak... she was on holidays. I was on holidays... we were focusing on doing springlike adventures as well as dodging raindrops... not trapped doing projects for school.

Last week I went to chat with the amazingly boring, but actually really nice teacher that the PIP has. She reminded me that THE PIP had not handed in a project... and as I was out the door... she remarked that it was the springbreak project.... but you know I was already heading in the other direction, and my momentum didn't turn me around...

So tonight...and it's nearing 10:00 PM... THE PIP is finishing up her SPRINGBREAK project. Just a colour added to make a bluesky... and things should be accomplished.

Having a mother with no memory is not so helpful...

Thinking of other unhelpful issues...

I managed to find a ntice in THE PIP'S room that was for the class pictures... I barely managed to make a cheque out on time for that one.

In other pictures...

I wrote to LIFETOUCH the other day and thanked them for the BEAUTIFUL pictures of my daughter... and the BEAUTIFUL pose that they put her in, the BEAUTIFUL spring background, the BEAUTIFUL gold foiled picture & the remarkable price points. It was wonderful...however; what wasn't wonderful was the one thin long strand of blond hair that skimmed her nose, and sat just between her eyes.... and that is all I could see... were those three strands of blond hair.... and so it was all sent back.... I quizzed them on their environmental practices and wondered if this was truly a marketable form of business they were providing, as it troubled me.

There are bigger kettles of fish to fry, or eat, or freeze, or something like that... but that is all I can remember for this week... and for this moment.

When I have less of a memory lapse I may be back with more.

Serious memory issues.

I have it.

HOLY SH@% people it's the truth.

I am very simply put... losing my memory.

It's gonzo.

I do however remember these things:

How much money I walked into the casino with.
Phone numbers.
To ask my children if they have homework.
Do we have enough milk for tomorrow?

(Of course the last one I repeat at least six or seven times.. just in case I think that I forgot to ask).

I am going to have to do some internet hunting... because this memory thing is getting a whole lot worse... WAY worse than before.

I might just buy myself a GPS ... just so I can get to where I am going... but of course I will have to write to where I was headed in the first place...

one handed music

So I am trying to get my boys MP3 player up and running. For some bizarre reason it really works well when I am hoding the ear phones with one hand. Of course it is broken... so that makes the typing here go a little slower.

Currently I am listening to FAT BOTTOMED GIRLS. You have to love OLD TIMERS music.
Now I am back to listening to HOLLY HOLY... yes people.. Neil Diamond... I'm back at it!

In the meantime I am trying to figure out how to get my MICRO SD device working... and even though I took it to the computer place to fix it/look at it... it still doesn't work. EVEN when I look up on my computer for devices.../slots... it doesn't read that I have one.

FREAKING FRIDAY FRIDGEMAGNETS!

Today in Deannaland

I went walking all by myself. Not that I don't already do so. I just traveled around the track for endless amounts of time until I got bored and left. Actually I know perfectly well how many minutes I traveled for, and how long... but then I decided that I didn't need to do a perfect three miles, and left at 2 and three quarters. Surely somebodywont strike me down from the heavens above. I have to walk more now. The walking group has taken an older generational age, therefore leaving me at a pace that is not much more than my regular heartrate.. which even though it's beneficial to be out moving... my real goal is to exercise the heart muscle.. which I did walking by myself!

I am going to disassemble my computer. I have a slot for a micro SD but it does not work.. so I am going to take it somewhere where they can make it work... PLUS.. I want to get one of my ports fixed.. so it's all good. HOPEFULLY I can get it back before the end of today! I might go missing for a couple of days.. or not.. PERHAPS.. I will take my camera and go picture hunting.

That is all.

I know longer rate:

My visiting friend from Korea now has the new title of potentially being the WORST sandwich maker in the world.

Now I have to say... she is new to this lunch making business, as in Korea the schools provide lunch for children.

Todays sandwich looked like this:

Jam
Cheese
Ham
Eggs

At one point she considered putting slices apples on the bread.

Yes people... I laughed!

MOnday morning...

How did I get here?

You know.. I was so tired last night that when PIP offered for me to come and watch a movie with her, I happily jumped onto our bed and promptly feel asleep.

I do remember tucking her into her "beddy" at some point.

Now I am drinking GREEN tea, and trying to clear up some of the allergy symptoms that I seem to be having... which makes me now understand why I was so tired last night.

AND now for my usual Monday morning statement:

I better go and make a lunch for my boy!

Who invented hockey anyways?

The world comes to a crashing hault when hockey comes on the big screen.

I'm just not liking it.

From the sounds of things coming from behind me the game has already been racked with incidents.

Perhaps it's time to go for a drive.

!!!!!!!!!!!

OK... the 1950's housedress is coming along swiftly.

I have never used my seam ripper quite so much.

Seriously people, as much as I wish to like it.

I just can't.

It is just UGLY.

It just is.

In a weird way I think.

I have lined the dress in an attempt to give it some flair.

If we could use the same fabric that I made the PINK PRINCESS DRESS out of, then it would just move.

This material just hangs.

Nothing else, just hangs.

AND... because it has a pattern to it, you can't even add some sparkle to jazz it up.

IN FACT... the icky piece of material that they did provide for us (we paid for of course) was a bright blue fabric piece.

I will not be placing a bright blue fabric piece on the ugly blue dress... I am going to find some OTHER piece of material.. more like the colour of periwinkle, or such. That will take the place of the waist band.

PIctures will be posted, shield your eyes.

TABLECLOTH torture:

I am trying to convince myself to finish the tablecloth dress. It is challenging. I have plugged the iron in... and will give the neckline of the tablecloth dress a fine crisp appearance. I am currently top stitching everything to give it a finished appearance, not a slapped together unloved tablecloth torture type style of dress.

You know... even though I am creating a table cloth dress, I am also watching it snow. I think it might be snowing more in my neighbours backyard.... that is a good thing.

don't you just....

LOVE the goat!

WISH it would stop snowing?

HAD a million dollars?

MAKE someone's day!

It's just about time...

Bear watching time that is.

The boy has his piano lesson in about 15 minutes... and then after that... I am heading out to travel around the lonesome roads of Minnekhada to find some photo ops.

I am not expecting anything of any great value... but I will certainly try.

In other things:

I rented a violin for the girl today. She even seemed like she was very excited, and wished to play it right away. Her and I being left handed and all had to figure out that it went on the left shoulder, not the right shoulder. Good grief!

CREDIT!!!

I will give credit, where credit is due...

All of these changes are in due to my extremely wizardly & talented computer friendGEMMAK!!

None of this would have been possible had I not handed over my passwords/passcodes/passports/.... uhm wait..... not quite the passport... HELL... I haven't even used it yet....

ANYWAYS... with her fine handiwork she recreated this space, with one thing to BEAR in mind, that I like green... and I like.....(just guess!)

Thanks GEMMAK!

AAAAAaaaaaahhhhhhhh!

Midnight tonight.... springbreak is over.

OH well... it's just as well... the temperatures have been rather on the FRIGID SCALE. It will be certain to warm up once the chicklets are back in to school... certainly they will!

In other things scarey:

I am currently making the girl the tablecloth dress. By the look in my friends eyes.... we were not wrong when we pegged the material TABLECLOTH like. I think I saw her gag.... I am sure of it!

I have no cream in the home... no homebrew coffee for me. (THE SAD THING IS... I went grocery shopping today).

I made chicken this afternoon... YES, only 17 years of marriage... and I made fried chicken, except I didn't fry it.... I baked it. (CLEARLY I need some help.....).

The girl has consented to take violin lessons for the next three months. This surely should be scarey. I wonder how badly violins break by being slammed against a wall?

My visiting friend has asked me to help her daughter continue to learn english... I said SURE!!! but I have no idea what to do! I guess I have to do some kind of GRADE 7 research or something... what the heck do you teach someone?.. ... hello ... anyone....? IDEAS?

I am currently watching American Idol, and cutting outmy material on the breaks... and now have decided to write my horror story of the last day of spring break....

Well... you never know.. it might snow around here...

Oh brother!

VITAMIN B.......quick.......

What's up with me....

I need some B COMPLEX stat like.

I am totally on the nutso side...

OH.. I know why....

I am about to embark on making the absolutely fantastic

TABLECLOTH DRESS!

It is such an exciting day...

OH.. and in exciting events:

The GIRL wore her PINK princess dress for Easter yesterday, SHE looked fabulous!
